Donavon Frankenreiter makes plans for Massachusetts

Donavon Frankenreiter will return to the road this summer for more shows in support of his latest album, Start Livin’. The veteran singer-songwriter and surfer will play several shows in Massachusetts, including the Blue Ocean Music Hall in Salisbury on Thursday, August 22. Tickets for the show are now on sale through the venue’s box office and website for $25.

Start Livin’, Frankenreiter’s fifth full-length studio album and follow-up to 2010’s Glow, was released in June of 2012. The Hawaii-based singer recorded the album over just seven days in Southern California with his longtime bassist Matt Grundy. The recording process featured the singer exploring different directions and using unique instruments including household items like pots and pans.

Prior to the show in Salisbury, Frankenreiter will deliver a two-night stand at the Beachcomber in Wellfleet on Monday, August 19 and Tuesday, August 20. He’ll also perform at the Chicken Box in Nantucket on Wednesday, August 21 and Dreamland in Martha’s Vineyard on Friday, August 23.

Other New England dates include Ridgefield, Conneticut (at the Ridgefield Playhouse on August 15), Portland, Maine (at the Asylum on August 17) and North Stonington, Conneticut (at the Jonathan Edwards Winery on August 18).

For each of the New England shows, Frankenreiter is hosting a contest for the opportunity to open the show. Local performers, solo acoustic or duo, who play all orginal music can enter the contest by emailing The subject header of the email should include the city and date the performer is interesting in playing, along with contact information and links to a current music video and website.
