Dispatch to host service project before concert

Before rocking a homecoming show at the Agganis Arena, Boston-bred rockers Dispatch will host a community service project on Saturday. The band’s Amplifying Education Initiative has teamed up with City Year Boston and Radio 92.9 to help transform the facilities of Boston Arts Academy, the city’s only public high school for the visual and performing arts.

Boston Arts Academy is a high-performing school committed to developing students into learners while promoting creativity and innovation and strives to provide a facility that reflects those ideals. Over the course of the day, Dispatch and over 200 volunteers will help realize those goals by repainting more than 40 classrooms, four floors worth of hallways and offices as well as the cafeteria. Boston Public Schools is collaborating with Boston Arts Academy and City Year to organize the painting projects.

Over the last year, Amplifying Education has engaged over 600 fan volunteers in nearly 4,000 hours of service to improve schools across North America and Europe; collected over 10,000 book donations to support local literacy programs through Better World Books; and raised over $250,000 through a portion of ticket sales, benefit shows, and fan-to-fan outreach shows to support local organizations like City Year Denver, Teach for America, and The Waterside School. Dispatch donated $1 per initial album pre-order of the recent release Circles Around The Sun to Amplifying Education and will donate an additional $1 from all tickets sold for their ongoing tour to the cause. Amplifying Education tour activities are organized and facilitated by Calling All Crows, a non-profit organization that partners with musicians and fans to create change through hands-on service and activism.

Space for the service project is limited and a $10 non-refundable donation is required to help offset the cost of service supplies and reserve your spot at the project. For more information and to sign up to volunteer, please go here.

Dispatch, comprised of Chad Stokes, Pete Heimbold and Brad Corrigan, are touring in support of the brand new album, Circles Around The Sun. The band’s first full length studio album since 2000’s Who Are We Living For?, debuted at #24 on the Billboard 200 after its release in August. Tickets for the band’s concert at Agganis Arena on Saturday are available through Ticketmaster for $44.
