Dierks Bentley to rock Newport in June

Prior to rocking Gillette Stadium in Foxboro with Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley will hit Rhode Island for a headlining show of his own. Touring in support of his new album Riser, the country star will rock the Newport Yachting Center on Thursday, June 19. Tickets for the concert, which range in price from $30.50 to $75.50, will go on sale Thursday at noon through Ticketmaster.

Riser, Bentley’s seventh studio effort and follow-up to 2012’s Home, debuted at #6 on the Billboard 200 after its release in February. The album draws on his deep life experiences over the past few years, including the death of his father and the birth of his first son.

“I named the album Riser because the lyrics in that song perfectly articulate who I want to be, who I try to be,” explained Bentley in a press release. “There’s a lot of really intense material on this record, but there’s also a lighter side that is equally important in telling the story of the last two years of my life. When I first started writing for this album, I was in a place of grief over the loss of my dad, but over the course of the next 18 months, my wife and I had our son Knox, and I ended in a place of real joy and gratefulness. Both sides of that coin are what country music has always been about, and I hope that my fans can feel how much of myself I put into this project. It’s all out on the table, for sure.”

Produced by Ross Copperman and Arturo Buenahora Jr, it features singles “Bourbon in Kentucky” (featuring Kacey Musgraves), “I Hold On” (streaming below) and “Drunk On A Plane”.

The Rhode Island show will follow an appearance at the historic Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Tennessee on June 15.

As previously reported, Bentley will open for Luke Bryan at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro on August 10. The two will also perform at the Champlain Valley Expo in Essex Junction, Vermont on August 22.
