Deer Tick have announced plans for a special New Year’s Eve show in Massachusetts. The pride of Rhode Island will usher in 2013 with a show at The Sinclair in Cambridge on Monday, December 31. Tickets for the 21+ show will go on sale Friday at noon through Ticketmaster for $40. Two Gallants will open the show.

The show will bring a successful 2012 to an end for Deer Tick. The band has spent much of the year touring in support of their latest album, Divine Providence, which was released in October of 2011. Earlier this year, the band released a digital and vinyl EP called Tim. Recorded during the 2011 sessions for Divine Providence, Tim contains five tracks, including an acoustic version of the song “Main Street”. The video for the original version of the song, featured on Divine Providence, is streaming below.

The band are reportedly working on their next full-length album for release sometime next year. In an interview with Rolling Stone earlier this year, frontman John McCauley described his songwriting process as spontaneous. “I just kind of wait around and when I feel like writing, I’ll write, but I’ve never forced myself to write. Different songs come from different places,” he said. “The good ones, I usually get the lyrics and the music done at the same time. The not-so-good ones, I write the music and the lyrics separately. If I could just sit down and get a song done in one sitting, that’s usually when I feel most accomplished.”
