David Garrett recently started a tour of North America as he continues to promote his latest album, Music. The German pop-classical crossover violinist will make his way to Massachusetts for a performance at the Hanover Theatre in Worcester on Sunday, March 23. Tickets for the concert, which will also feature opener Martynas, are now on sale through the venue’s box office and website for $39.50 and $44.50.

Released stateside last summer via Verve Records, Music is a 15-track album mixes a range of genres. From classical selections such as Beethoven’s “Scherzo” and Clementi’s “Sonatina” to reworked pop hits like Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida” and Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me A River”, the album represents Garrett’s diverse range of influences.

“I never stopped playing classical music,” explained Garrett in a press release. “But when you become really accomplished on the violin, you can literally do anything. It’s just a matter of what you really want to do with music.”

“I try to see classical music in a new perspective,” he continued. “On the other hand I want to integrate elements of classical music into pop, yet leave its original energy intact.”

Prior to his performance in Massachusetts, Garrett will perform in Connecticut with a concert scheduled for the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford on March 22.
