Cyndi Lauper and Dr. John & The Lower 911 have revealed plans for their first ever tour together. The two will hit Massachusetts this fall as part of their “From Memphis to Mardi Gras” with a show at Boston’s House of Blues scheduled for Sunday, October 23. Tickets for the show are now on sale through Live Nation for #35 and $45.

Lauper is touring in support of her latest album, Memphis Blues. Released last summer, the album finds the 80’s pop star reinventing herself by putting her unique twist on a collection of blues songs. It debuted at #1 on the Billboard Blues Albums chart, a spot it dominated for 14 consecutive weeks. Recorded at Electraphonic Studios in Memphis, Tennessee, the album features special guest appearances by B.B. King, Jonny Lang, Allen Toussaint, Ann Peebles and Charlie Musselwhite.

Dr. John and The Lower 911 continue to tour in support 2010’s Tribal, which was nominated for a Grammy award in the Contemporary Blues Album category. A five-time Grammy winner, Dr. John also earned a Grammy nomination this year in the Best Song Written for Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media category for his rendition of Randy Newman’s “Down in New Orleans”. The “Tremé” soundtrack, to which Dr. John contributed the track “Indian Red”, was also nominated for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media. Earlier this year, John was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
