Creed have added a Boston show to their brief 2012 tour plans. The band will make their way to the Hub for a show at the Orpheum Theatre on Friday, April 27. Tickets for the show will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster for $35 and $75.

The Boston show will come on the heels of a special outing that will have the band perform 1997’s My Own Prison and 1999’s Human Clay in their entirety with exclusive back-to-back shows in Chicago, Philadelphia and New York. Select songs from 2001’s Weathered and 2009’s Full Circle will also be part of the setlist for both nights. Fans in Boston can expect a complete set filled with greatest hits and fan favorites from all four albums with a greater focus on their first two.

Creed are in the midst of working on their fifth album, which they hope to release in 2012. “We’re not trying to rush this at all,” said lead singer Scott Stapp in a recent interview with Billboard. “We’re still a band that likes to create albums and not just get three songs we think will connect with radio and put an album out. We want to put out solid albums and want it to be an organic process, just like we had with those previous records.”

Stapp is also working on a new solo album, a follow-up to 2005’s The Great Divide. Additionally, he continues to work on his autobiography with David Ritz. Tentatively titled “Exposed and Released: The Confessions of Scott Stapp”, a 2012 release is expected.

The rest of Creed – guitarist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall and drummer Scott Phillips – recently completed a tour of Europe with their other band, Alter Bridge. Tremonti is also working on his first solo album.
