Music Circus and Melody Tent add more shows

Organizers for summer concert series at the Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis and the South Shore Music Circus in Cohasset have revealed a handful of new shows scheduled to take place at each of the venues this summer.

Johnny Winter will headline the “Rock ‘N’ Blues Fest” summer tour, which makes stops at the Melody Tent on Thursday, August 9 and the Music Circus on Friday, August 17. The package tour will also feature the Edgar Winter Group, Rick Derringer, Mountain’s Leslie West and Savoy Brown’s Kim Simmonds. Collectively, these five veterans have earned 4 Grammy Awards, 10 Grammy Nominations, 14 Billboard-charting songs, 18 Billboard-charting albums, 10 Gold albums, and 4 Platinum albums. Johnny Winter, Edgar Winter, and West all played the original Woodstock in August of 1969. Tickets for each of the shows will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster for $37.25 and $56.25.

Seal will swing through Massachusetts for shows with special guest Macy Gray this summer. The two will perform together at the Music Circus on Friday, July 13 and the Melody Tent on Saturday, July 14. Seal will be touring in support of his latest release, Soul 2. Released in November, the Brittish singer’s eigth studio album consists of soul classic. It was produced by David Foster, Jochem van der Saag, and long-time collaborator Trevor Horn. Gray will be touring in support of her forthcoming album, Covered. The R&B singer’s sixth studio effort will hit stores on Tuesday. Tickets for each of the shows will go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster for $69.25 and $88.25.

Other recent show announcements include the Steve Miller Band and Creedence Clearwater Revisited.

The Steve Miller Band will visit Hyannis for a show at the Melody Tent on Saturday, August 4. Miller continues to tour in support of his latest release, Let Your Hair Down. Released last April, the album was recorded at the same times as 2010’s Bingo!. It features the last recordings by harmonica virtuoso Norton Buffalo, Miller’s “partner in harmony” for thirty-three years. Buffalo has since been replaced by Jacob Peterson for the band’s live shows. Tickets for the show are now on sale through Ticketmaster for $68.25 and $87.25.

Creedence Clearwater Revisited will perform at the Melody Tent on Saturday, August 18 and the Music Circus on Sunday, August 19. Formed in 1995 by original Creedence Clearwater Revival members Stu Cook (bass) and Doug Clifford (drums), Creedence Clearwater Revisited performs all the classic CCR hits in concert. Tickets for each of the shows are now on sale through Ticketmaster for $40.50 and $59.50.
