Coldplay have announced plans to close out the year with short series of live performances, including one in New England. The English rockers will perform at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on Saturday, December 29. Tickets for the show will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster for $95 and $150. Naturally 7 will open the show.

The Connecticut concert will serve as warm-up to the band’s big New Year’s Eve concert with Jay-Z at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The two celebrated New Year’s together two years ago with a concert in Las Vegas. They also performed earlier this summer at the 2012 Paralympic Games Closing Ceremony in London. Coldplay will also headline a show of their own at the Barclays Center on December 30.

The upcoming shows continue Coldplay’s promotion of their latest album, 2011’s Mylo Xyloto. The band’s fifth studio effort, which topped the charts in 34 countries, has produced singles “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall”, “Paradise”, “Charlie Brown”, “”Princess of China” and “Hurts Like Heaven”.

Coldplay will releases “Live 2012”, a new concert film and live album, on November 19. The film includes footage from the band’s shows at Paris’s Stade de France, Montreal’s Bell Centre and last year’s headlining performance at the Glastonbury Festival in England. The trailer for the Live 2012, which will be screened in cinemas around the world tonight, is streaming below. The band will also release Mylo Xyloto Live, an interactive audio-visual companion to the concert film, on November 19 on iTunes. Created especially for the iBookstore, the Mylo Xyloto Live eBook tells the inside story of Coldplay’s world tour.

In September, Billboard named Coldplay’s 2012 outing the year’s top-grossing tour to date.
