Currently touring across the West Coast, Clutch will soon make their way to the East Coast as they tour in support of their new album, Earth Rocker. The veteran hard rockers will stop in Massachusetts for a performance at Boston’s House of Blues with special guests The Sword on Sunday, May 5. Tickets for the show, which will also feature openers Lionize, are available through Live Nation for $25 and $35.

Earth Rocker, Clutch’s tenth studio effort and follow-up to 2009’s Strange Cousins from the West, debuted at #15 on the Billboard 200 after its release last month (the band’s highest ever debut). The album also came in at #1 on the Hard Rock albums and #3 on the Independent albums charts. Produced by Machine, who also produced the band’s 2004 album Blast Tyrant, it features singles “Earth Rocker” and “Crucial Velocity”.

“It has a lot in common with Blast Tyrant in that Machine’s production techniques are really unique,” said Clutch frontman Neil Fallon in a press release. “It differs from Blast Tyrant and a lot of other Clutch records in that, overall, the songs are faster and concise.”

Guitarist Tim Sult added, “As far as the composition of the songs go, this is the heaviest and fastest Clutch album to date.”

The Sword continue to tour in support of 2012’s Apocryphon, their fourth studio effort.

Along with the Boston show, the tour will stop at Toad’s Place in New Haven, Connecticut on April 16 and the State Theatre in Portland Maine on May 4.
