Christina Aguilera cancels summer tour

Coming only weeks after the announcement a summer tour in support of her forthcoming album Bionic, Christina Aguilera has announced that she will be postponing her summer tour until 2011. The singer was set to come to the Comcast Center in Mansfield on Saturday, July 31. Refunds, for those who’ve already purchased tickets, are available at the point of purchase.

Aguilera has decided to postpone the tour as a result of prior commitments to both her upcoming feature film debut role in Burlesque, which also stars Cher, Stanley Tucci and Kristen Bell. Though she does plan on promoting the new album, with the tour scheduled to start less than a month after its release on June 8, the singer felt she needed more time to rehearse her new live show.

Set to open the tour was pop star Leona Lewis, leaving her touring plans unknown at the moment. No information has been made available as to whether or not the British singer will make plans for a stateside tour of her own this summer or if she will wait and join Aguilera on tour next year.
