Chickenfoot have unveiled dates for their “A Different Devil” Tour in support of their new record Chickenfoot III. The rock supergroup make their way to Massachusetts this spring and perform at Boston’s Orpheum Theatre on Wednesday, May 16. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $38 to $58, will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster. Black Stone Cherry will open the show.

Chickenfoot III, Chickenfoot’s second studio album, hit stores last September. It follows up the band’s self-titled and certified gold debut album in 2009. The band is comprised of singer Sammy Hagar, bassist Michael Anthony, guitarist Joe Satriani and drummer Chad Smith, who due to touring commitments with the Red Hit Chili Peppers will not participate in the upcoming trek. Instead, drummer Kenny Aronoff will be behind the kit for the upcoming tour.

“The Foot are road tested and ready to roll and can’t wait to play the new songs for the fans!” Hagar declared in a press release.

Satriani compared the writing process of Chickenfoot III to the debut album in an interview with Artist Direct last fall. “When I think back to that first album we did, we barely knew each other,” he said. “This time around…we had a history with each other. We’d done a few tours. We’d learned about each other a little more…it feels like we knew each other more, and we were able to bring better performances out of each other.”

The album’s creative 3D design packaging earned a Grammy Award nomination in the category of “Best Recording Package”.

Following the show in Boston, Chickenfoot will perform at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on Saturday, May 19. Tickets for the show will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster for $25.
