Cheap Trick to play Hampton Beach

Cheap Trick will return to the road this summer for a tour that includes one stop in New England. The classic rock favorites will hit New Hampshire for a performance at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom on Sunday, August 25. Tickets for the concert, which range in price from $30 to $56, are now on sale through Ticketmaster. Boston’s own The Neighborhoods will open the show.

Earlier this year, Cheap Trick celebrated the 35th anniversary of their legendary show in Budokan, Japan with a special performance in New York City. The band delivered the exact April 28, 1978 Budokan set, which was captured on the band’s classic live album At Budokan, at the John Varvatos Bowery boutique (the space that formerly housed the seminal underground music club CBGB’s) in New York City on April 28. Bolstered by the hit singles, “I Want You To Want Me” and “Ain’t That A Shame” At Budokan catapulted the Rockford, Illinois-bred quartet stardom.

Cheap Trick’s last offering of all new material was 2009’s The Latest.

The upcoming tour will feature original members Robin Zander (vocals, rhythm guitar), Rick Nielsen (lead guitar) and Tom Petersson (bass guitar), along with Daxx Nielsen (son of Rick) who has filled in for drummer Bun E. Carlos since 2010.
