Carrie Underwood to play on in New England

Carrie Underwood has revealed plans for her upcoming tour in support of her brand new album, Play On. The country superstar will stop in make multiple stops in New England, including a stop at Worcester’s DCU Center on Sunday, March 21. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $33 to $53, go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. though Ticketmaster.

The Massachusetts show will be the last of five stops in New England. Underwood will kick off the “Play On” tour in Providence on Saturday, March 13 at the Dunkin Donuts Center. Tickets for the Providence show are priced at the same levels as the Worcester show and also go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. though Ticketmaster. The other New England stops are scheduled for the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, Maine on Monday, March 15, the Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, Connecticut on Tuesday, March 16 and the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut on Saturday, March 20. Craig Morgan and Sons of Sylvia will open all shows on the tour.

Underwood released her third studio album, Play On, last month. The album debuted #1 on the Billboard 200 and marked the biggest one-week sales total for a female recording artist in 2009 and second best sales week for the country genre as a whole in 2009. Play On, which follows 2007’s Carnival Ride, has been powered by the success of its lead single, “Cowboy Casanova”.

“I am getting excited about next year as we are currently working through all the big plans for the tour,” Underwood stated in a press release. “I cannot wait to perform new music and see familiar faces across the US and Canada.”
