Santana teams up with Steve Winwood for summer tour

Carlos Santana recently unveiled his plans for a summer tour, which will feature English singer/songwriter Steve Winwood as an opening act. The tour will include a stop at the Comcast Center on Friday. July 23. Tickets, which range in price from $25 to $125, go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation. Fans can also purchase special 4-packs of tickets for the discounted price of $17.50 each.

Santana is the latest recipient of the Billboard Latin Music Awards’ Lifetime Achievement Honor. The accolade follows the Latin rock icon’s 2008 release of Multi-Dimensional Warrior, a compilation of 28 career-spanning songs.Santana selected all the album’s songs himself and calls it “a love letter to the fans”. He also recently released a reissue of Supernatural, which features eleven new songs, in celebration of the album’s tenth anniversary. Plans for a new album are also underway but no details have been released.

Steve Winwood joins the “Universal Tone” tour about a year after the release of his latest studio effort, Nine Lives, which was released through Colombia Records. It debuted as #12 on the Billboard 200 album char, making it his best album opening to date. Its first single, “Dirty City”, features Eric Clapton on guitar.
