Cape Cod Melody Tent adds to diverse schedule

With only a few weeks till the start of the summer concert season, the Cape Cod Melody Tent in Hyannis continues to add to its diverse offering of summer concerts. Among the latest batch of recently announced performances are package tours featuring favorites from the ’90’s and ’70’s, the return of hometown favorite Siobhan Magnus and Canadian singing sensations The Tenors.

Led by Everclear frontman Art Alexakis, the “Summerland 2013 – Alternative Guitars” tour will stop in Hyannis for a night at the Melody Tent on Thursday, July 18. The second installment of the 90’s nostalgia fueled tour features Everclear alongside Live, Filter and Sponge. Tickets for the show will go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through eTix for $41.75 and $61.75.

Siobhan Magnus will return for a homecoming show with her new band Doubtful Guest at the Melody Tent on Thursday, August 1. The Barnstable native and former American Idol contestant is now fronting the “90’s rock rebooted” act alongside Tony Fredianelli (Third Eye Blind), Sammy Hudson (Everclear), Peter Klett (Candlebox) and Tommy Stewart (Godsmack). Fans can expect the set to include hits from each of the member’s former bands, as well as their own personal favorites from the decade and possibly even some new original music the band has been working on. Tickets for the show will go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through eTix for $40.25.

After a successful outing last year, Edgar Winter will revive the “Rock N’ Blues Fest” tour this summer. The tour will stop in Hyannis for a night the Melody Tent on Thursday, August 22. Rick Derringer will return to the tour, which will also feature Pat Travers, Canned Heat and Ten Years After this summer. Tickets for the show will go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through eTix for $37.75 and $57.75.

The Tenors’ summer outing includes a performance at the Melody Tent on Friday, August 23. The acclaimed Canadian singing group will be touring in support of their latest album, Lead With Your Heart. Released in October, the group’s third studio effort won the Juno Award for Adult Contemporary Album of the Year. Tickets for the show will go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through eTix for $48.75.

Due to overwhelming demand, Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons have also added a second show in Hyannis. The group will now also perform at the Melody Tent on Saturday, August 24. Tickets for the new show will go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through eTix for $67.25 and $87.25.

The Cape Cod Melody Tent and its sister venue, the South Shore Music Circus in Cohasset, are both operated by South Shore Playhouse Associates (SSPA), a not-for-profit organization that supports arts and education in southeastern Massachusetts. Every seat for both venues is within 50 feet of the stage.
