Cake hits #1, plans return to Boston

After delivering one of the best shows in New England last year , Cake will return to the Hub for a show this spring in support of their new #1 album. The alternative rockers will perform at Boston’s Citi Wang Theatre on Friday, April 22. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $40 to $45, are now on sale through Telecharge.

The Sacramento-based band is touring in support of their recently released sixth full length studio album, Showroom Of Compassion, the band’s first album since 2004’s Pressure Chief. Recorded in a studio powered entirely by solar energy, Showroom Of Compassion was the band’s first album to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 (though, it also was the lowest selling #1 on the Billboard 200 since Nielson SoundScan began electronic tracking in 1991).

Despite the dubious distinction, member’s enthusiastically thanked fans on their website saying, “We’re number one!! Cake’s independently released Showroom Of Compassion album has debuted at number one on the Billboard Charts this week and it’s all your fault. Cake would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to all the listeners who have supported our work for all these years.”
