Bruce Springsteen joins Dropkick Murphys at HOB

In what is sure to go down as one of their most memorable moments, the Dropkick Murphys were joined by Bruce Springsteen at the House of Blues on Friday night. Rumors began swirling around town on Friday morning that the legendary rocker would show up and sure enough, The Boss joined the hometown heroes for three songs as part of their encore.

Springsteen joined the band for “Peg O’ My Heart”, a song of the band’s latest release Going Out In Style that he contributed vocals for the album cut. He remained on stage for his own “Badlands”, a song the Murphys have covered before in concert, and “I’m Shipping Up to Boston” You can watch the whole performance below.

The DKM-Springsteen relationship began in 2009 when some of the band members joined The Boss on stage for his show at the TD Garden. At that same show, guitarist Tim Brennan proposed to his girlfriend on stage. Later that summer, Ken Casey joined Springsteen on stage during his show at the Comcast Center.

Keeping with the E-Street Band related news, opening up Friday’s show was Against Me with Jay Weinberg on drums. Son of longtime E-Street Band drummer Max Weinberg, Jay performed with Springsteen and company during several shows on their 2009 tour. Max was reportedly in the house on Friday to watch the show.
