Boy George has revealed plans for a brief North American tour this April in support of his new album, This Is What I Do. The British pop star will hit Boston for a performance at Royale on Saturday, April 19. Tickets for the show will go on sale Friday at noon through Ticketmaster for $30.

This Is What I Do, Boy George’s first full-length release of all original material since 1995’s Cheapness and Beauty, is scheduled to hit stores on March 25. Produced by Richie Stevens (Tina Turner, Culture Club) at London’s Cowshed Studios, he wrote the album’s twelve tracks with longtime writing partners Stevens, John Themis and Kevan Frost. It features collaborations with the acclaimed producer Youth, as well as a string of guest musicians including DJ Yoda, Kitty Durham, Ally McErlaine, MC Spee and Nizar Al Issa.

“I wanted to make a baggy album, not overproduced, and I think I have achieved it,” explained George in a press release, “I was listening to things like ‘Beast Of Burden’ by The Stones, and I had my head most definitely in the 70’s… I was also writing from a happy place. This time, no ex-lovers to get revenge on. For me ‘Bigger Than War’ sums up the tone.”

Fans can get a taste of This Is What I Do with lead single “King of Everything”, which is streaming below.

On the upcoming tour, George will be accompanied by his 9-piece band, which includes a brass section and backing vocalists.
