Billy Bragg cancels upcoming US shows

Billy Bragg will no longer be joining Mavis Staples for their planned co-headlining tour of the United States this spring, including a pair of New England shows, due to the recent death of his mother.

Bragg made the announcement on his official website late last week, stating, “It is with deep regret that I must announce that I have had to cancel my US tour… My mother was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and her health has deteriorated to such a critical extent in the past week that I am now unable to fulfill these dates. As her life slips away, I feel that my place is by her side.” Sadly, his mother passed away just a couple of days later on Saturday.

Staples will now play a full set with her band at the Music Hall in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on Friday, March 25. Fans with concerns regarding the show should direct all questions to the venue’s box office. The duo’s show at the Zeiterion Theatre, originally scheduled for Saturday, April 2, has been cancelled. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.
