Progressive rock favorites Asia have once again reformed their original lineup and revealed plans for a world tour in support of a new album. The band will kick off the tour in Massachusetts on Monday, August 2 with a show at the Zeiterion Theatre in New Bedford. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $40 to $65, go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through the venue’s box office.

Asia, regarded by many as the premiere progressive rock supergroup, will be touring in support of the brand new album, Omega. The album follows 2008’s Phoenix. The tour will feature the original Asia lineup consisting of John Wetton (bass/vocals), Steve Howe (guitar), Geoff Downes (keyboards) and Carl Palmer (drums).

“This is the real Asia,” said Steve Howe, who is also a founding member and lead guitarist of Yes, in a press release. “There have been other versions of the band, but this original line-up is the one the public truly embraced.”

John Wetton, who was also a member of King Crimson in the 1970s, added “Everything that was there years ago is still there, and if you liked it then, you’ll love it now.”
