Ani DiFranco will make her way to Massachusetts next month as part of a summer tour in support of her new album ¿Which Side Are You On?. She will perform at Showcase Live in Foxboro on Thursday, June 14. Tickets for the show are on sale now through Ticketmaster for $30.

¿Which Side Are You On?, DiFranco’s seventeenth studio effort and follow-up to 2008’s Red Letter Year, was released in January. The album features eleven new songs as well as DiFranco’s rendition of the classic title song, originally recorded by Pete Seeger almost fifty years ago. The track even features Seeger himself on vocals and banjo, as well as a children’s chorus alongside DiFranco.

“All of my musical community, my comrades, are there,” she said of the song in a press release.

The album was co-produced by DiFranco and Mike Napolitano, who has worked with her on previous albums. It paints a picture of her personal life, as well as her perception of the political and national scene – including environmental disaster and governmental inaction.

“I’m testing deeper waters with the political songs on this album,” DiFranco said. “I feel a little bit frustrated, politically desperate… I guess I’ve been pushing my own boundaries of politics and art. Seeing what people have the ears to listen to. How big is my mouth? What can I get out of it successfully?”
