New Kids On The Block to play the House of Blues

New Kids on the Block have revealed plans for a very special and intimate performance at the House of Blues to benefit Greater Boston’s Toys for Tots Foundation. Tickets for the show, which will take place on Sunday, December 20, are $75 and go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster. The group says they will also invite special guests to participate in the show.

All Net ticket proceeds will be donated to Toys for Tots. Additionally, attendees are asked to bring unwrapped, non-violent toys to also be donated to Toys for Tots for distribution to local Boston area families in need during the 2009 Holiday Season. For a to-be-determined separate entry fee, fans can experience an exclusive reception and Meet and Greet with New Kids on the Block in the House of Blues Foundation Room with all proceeds going to Toys for Tots.

“We’ve always been big on giving back,” said New Kids on the Block’s Jordan Knight in a press release. “We didn’t always have it so easy and we just want to do what we can to help those less fortunate than ourselves. It’s something that has always been important to us and we are all thankfully in a position to help.”

Last year, all five members – Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood, and Jordan and Jonathan Knight – reunited to record new material. The Block, their first studio release in fourteen years, debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart last summer and the subsequent reunion tour was a massive success at the box office with concerts taking place across the globe.

Fans attending the Toys For Tots benefit can expect to hear material from the group’s catalogue, as well as tunes from their individual catalogues and of course, some holiday favorites. In 1989, New Kids on the Block released a holiday compilation called Merry, Merry Christmas with the hit single “Funky, Funky XMas”.
