Michael Jackson’s Thriller to hit Broadway

Michael Jackson’s groundbreaking "Thriller" video will soon be transformed into a musical theater production on Broadway.

"Thriller The Musical" will recreate the tale of the 14-minute horror film spoof based on the title song and its infamous video that features a young couple are on a date when the boy — played by Jackson — becomes a werewolf. The theater production will include songs form the 1982 album Thriller and its 1979 predecessor, Off the Wall.

"This musical will be the exclusive Michael Jackson authorized version of ‘Thriller’ and Jackson will participate in every aspect of the creative process," the Nederland Organization, which has acquired the rights to the musical and owns nine Broadway theatres, said through a press release.

Jackson’s spokesman, Dr. Tohme Tohme, addded, "The Nederlanders and Michael Jackson represent live theater and musical excellence, so let the music begin."

No target date for the production’s opening has been set, no have the writer, choreographer and director of the musical been revealed.
