Rumble Update: Spirit Kid wins Semifinal #1

After earning an Wild Card selection into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Rumble semifinals, Spirit Kid took advantage last night at TT the Bear’s Place and rocked their way into next week’s finals. The pop brainchild of multi-instrumentalist/songwriter Emeen Zarookia won a tough grouping of local standouts and preliminary round winners Mello Bravo, Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling and Sidewalk Driver.

The second semifinal will take place tonight with John Powhida International Airport, Walter Sickert & the Army of Broken Toys, Oldjack and Black Thai. Jenny Dee and the Deelinquents, winners of the first preliminary night withdrew from the competition due to a scheduling conflict, allowing OldJack to move on the semifinals as their replacement. Tickets for tonight’s show, which will start at 9 p.m., are $10 through TicketWeb. The full lineup with estimated set times for each night is available below.

The finals, with each of the Semifinal winners and a Wild Card selection, will take place Friday, April 22 at TT the Bear’s Place.
