Rumble Update: Spirit Kid, Black Thai named Wild Cards

Rock ‘n’ Roll Rumble organizer Anngelle Wood announced last night on WZLX’s Boston Emissions that Spirit Kid and Black Thai will take part in this week’s semifinals after earning the two Wild Card selections from the Rumble judges. They’ll join preliminary round winners Jenny Dee & the Deelinquents (Night #1), Walter Sickert & the Army Of Broken Toys (Night #2), John Powhida International Airport (Night #3), Mello Bravo (Night #4), Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling (Night #5) and Sidewalk Driver (Night #6).

Spirit Kid, the pop brainchild of multi-instrumentalist/songwriter Emeen Zarookia, participated on the third preliminary night with John Powhida International Airport, Cult 45 and The Autumn Hollow Band. Black Thai, the metal favorites comprised of Jim Healy (vocals, guitar), Scott O’Dowd (guitar), Cory Cocomozzi (bass) and Jeremy Hemond (drums), participated on the sixth preliminary night with Sidewalk Driver, Cradle to the Grave and The Year Million.

The first semifinal will take place on Thursday, April 14 with Mello Bravo, Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling, Sidewalk Driver and Spirit Kid. The second semifinal will take place the following night with John Powhida International Airport, Walter Sickert & the Army of Broken Toys, Jenny Dee and the Deelinquents and Black Thai. Both shows will start at 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 for each night or $17 for a two-night pass through TicketWeb. The full lineup with estimated set times for each night is available below.

The finals will take place Friday, April 22.
