Rumble Update: Sidewalk Driver wins night #6

After five nights of spirited competition, the preliminary rounds of Boston’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Rumble came to a close last night at TT the Bear’s Place. Sidewalk Driver booked their spot in the finals by winning the last grouping of local favorites, which featured Cradle to the Grave, The Year Million and Black Thai.

Led by Lead singer Tad McKitterick, Sidewalk Driver is comprised of Kate Murdoch (guitar), Jared Egan (guitar), Jonn Smith (bass) and A.J. Locke (drums). The band released their debut album, For All the Boys and Girls, in late 2009.

The semifinals will take place next Thursday and Friday, April  14 and 15. The semifinals will feature each of the preliminary round winners – Jenny Dee & the Deelinquents (Night #1), Walter Sickert & the Army Of Broken Toys (Night #2), John Powhida International Airport (Night #3), Mello Bravo (Night #4), Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling (Night #5) and Sidewalk Driver (Night #6) – along with two “Wild Card” selections, which will be announced later tonight on WXLZ’s Boston Emissions with Rumble organizer Anngelle Wood.

The finals will take place Friday, April 22.
