After taking a break on Wednesday, the preliminary rounds for Boston’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Rumble resumed last night at TT the Bear’s Place. Mello Bravo rocked their way into the semifinals, edging out an impressive slate of local standouts in The Acro-Brats, Static Of The Gods and Triple Thick.

Mello Bravo, one of BMS’ “Eleven Local Artists To Watch in 2011” and a nominee for Rock Artist of the Year at last year’s Boston Music Awards, is comprised of Andrew Doherty, Jess Collins, Dave Jarvis, Jeff Fultz, Seager Tennis and Keith Pierce. The band’s debut album, Strut, was also named one of BMS’ Favorite Local Albums of 2010.

After three nights of spirited competition, the Rumble will take a break tonight before returning on Thursday with The Acro-Brats, Mellow Bravo, Static Of The Gods and Triple Thick. Tickets are $9 and the show starts at 9 p.m.

The preliminary rounds of the Rumble will continue tonight and tomorrow. Keep Me Conscious, Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling, Stereo Telescope and Tired Old Bones will perform tonight as part of the fifth preliminary night, while Sidewalk Driver, Black Thai, The Year Million and Cradle To The Grave will bring the preliminary rounds to a close on Saturday. Tickets for each show are $9 and the music will start at 9:30.

Winners from each of the nights, along with two Wild Card selections, will move on to the semifinal rounds on April 14 and 15. So far, Jenny Dee & the Deelinquents (winners of Night #1), Walter Sickert & the Army Of Broken Toys (winners of Night #2), John Powhida International Airport (Night #3) and Mello Bravo (Night #4) have all booked their spot in the semifinals.
