Lowell gears up for Winterfest

, Staff

Lowell is the place to be this weekend as the Mill City hosts its annual Winterfest celebrations on Friday and Saturday. The longtime New England tradition features a wide array of events including winter sleigh rides, ice sculptors, public skating at the Tsongas Center, the Human Dog Sled race, fireworks and more. Of course, here at BMS, we’re most excited to share news on the music at this year’s Winterfest.

This year when the sun sets and the temperature drops, music fans will have two choices to keep Wintefest going. The outside tent at Club Celsius on Arcand Drive will feature live performances on Friday night by Sugar Foot & the Brass Kickin’ Horns and Evolution: A Tribute to Journey. On Saturday, the tent will feature daytime all-ages performances from Hot Like Fire, Michael & Marissa and The Cassettes. Entrain and U2 tribute band The Joshua Tree will rock the night show. Admission is $5 and both night shows are 21+.

If its original music you’re looking for, then it’s just a brisk walk down the road to Gemstones at the Blue Shamrock Pub on Market Street. Friday night will feature a pair of local favorites in Cory B and Audrey Can’t Die, alongside Boston standouts The Luxury, Air Traffic Controller and This Blue Heaven. On Saturday, New York’s Shinobi Ninja will team up with Boston favorites Mission Hill and Six Day Slide. Both shows are 21+ and admission is $10. If you wanna go for free, just drop us an email.
