Local favorites come together for special benefit

, Staff

Members of the local music scene in Boston are coming together to help one of their own with a special benefit concert on Saturday at Harpers Ferry. Led by 2009 Rock & Roll Rumble winners The Luxury and Anngelle Wood of Boston Emissions, the show will serve three purposes with the primary reason being a benefit concert for Ben Grenville Garceau. The former lead singer for Roman Traffic (formerly known as Gravehaven) was injured in a serious accident last month. Lucky to be alive, he’s now recovering from multiple head and bodily injuries but without insurance his medical bills are quickly soaring out of control.

Joining The Luxury on Saturday’s bill will be fellow 2009 Rumble participants Gene Dante and Dead Cats Dead Rats, as well as Streight Angular. The show came together just over the past couple of weeks and the band is quick to note that the “list of bands who wanted to perform but couldn’t due to the short notice is long and distinguished”. Tickets for the 18+ show are are $12 and plans are in place for raffles too.

Saturday’s show will also serve as the Boston Emissions‘ Re-birthday party. It was a little over a year ago that the future of the local radio show hosted by Wood was in jeopardy after the fall of WBCN. However, the show lived on, finding a new home on WZLX and remaining on air at 10 p.m. on Sundays. Finally, Saturday’s show will be The Luxury’s last with drummer Steve Foster, who will be moving to Oregon next month.

Fans who cannot the benefit concert but would like to make a donation to benefit Ben Grenville Garceau, can do so here.
