John Mayer has revealed plans for a nationwide tour in 2010. The ex-Berklee College of Music student will return to Boston for a show at the TD Garden on Wednesday, February 24. Tickets for the show, which range in price from $38.50 to $78.50, go on sale Saturday at 9 a.m. through Ticketmaster. Michael Franti and Spearhead will open the Boston show.

Mayer will be touring in support of his brand new album, Battle Studies, which was released on Tuesday. The album, his fourth studio effort and follow up to 2006’s Continuum, was co-produced by Mayer and Steve Jordan. The 11-track/45-minute album contains lead single “Who Says” as well as a guest appearance by pop-country superstar Taylor Swift on “Half of My Heart”, and a cover of Robert Johnson/Cream’s “Crossroads”.

On Thursday, Mayer will perform on CBS’ The Late Show with David Letterman. During the show, Mayer will appear both as a sit-in artist with Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra and as the show’s musical guest. He’ll then take over the studio for an extended concert for fans that will be webcast on Letterman’s website.
