Journalism/Content Internship

Boston Music Spotlight is seeking bright, motivated writers who share our passionate about music. Reporting to the Managing Editors, Journalism/Content interns will assist with updating website content including writing news articles and concert reviews.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Research and write news and extended feature articles

Attend concerts and write reviews

Conduct interviews with artists (in-person, phone or e-mail) and/or attend press conferences

Update concert calendar database

Assist with updates and maintenance of website and social media accounts

Work closely with Editorial Team to develop new forms of content

Required Skills/Experience:

Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in English, Communications or Journalism with prior journalism experience (such as a school newspaper or internship) is preferred. Possesses excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, remote work environment. Position requires excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously. Must demonstrate a positive, upbeat and enjoyable attitude. Be knowledgeable about BMS and a fan of music with knowledge of the local music scene a plus. The position requires a flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings and weekends.

Schedule: Part-Time

Location: Boston area – Telecommute

Compensation: Unpaid. Applicants can receive college credit, subject to school approval. Concert tickets will be provided.
