Metallica have officially announced their very own exclusive version of Guitar Hero will drop in stores on March 29 for Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation 3 formats. Nintendo Wii and PS2 formats will follow later in the Spring, most likely in early May according to the band. A preview of the game is available below.

Guitar Hero: Metallica will include 28 Metallica songs along with selections from some of the favorite other bands including Alice in Chains, the Foo Fighters, Slayer, Machine Head, and Queen. It will also feature prominent venues that the band has played over the years. Fans will be able to play as the band in either single instrument or band career game modes. The game’s creators have also added an "Expert Plus" mode for drummers that allows them to add a second bass drum pedal. Fans who pre-order the game from GameStop will receive a free extra foot pedal as well as a splitter to use both pedals at the same time.

This will be the second game of the Guitar Hero series to focus on the career one band, the first being Guitar Hero: Aersomith. Late last year, Metallica released their new album Death Magnetic in its entirety as downloadable content for for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock and Guitar Hero: World Tour.
