How did you form?&

After playing drums and recording for a number of years, I wanted to make my own record. I recorded "Solid Ground" at Kissy Pig Studios in Allston, MA. KRM is the owner and a friend.& He engineered the recording sessions. I played all the drums and sang lead and backing vocals. I was a drummer in another band with Gary Rand on guitar so I asked him to play on the record.& He played the majority of the guitars, sang backing vocals, and helped produced and arrange the record with KRM and myself.& I also had help from some other great musicians on the project as well.& After the record was finished, I wanted to put together a band so KRM joined Gary and myself on guitar along with friend John Parrillo on bass and Bob Nisi on drums.

Who are some of your influences?

The Rolling Stones, The Replacements, Buzzcocks, Roky Erickson, Ramones, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, Johnny Thunders, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Big Star and many others.

Finish the sentence, someone would like your band if they like…

Rootsy pop music

What has your most memorable moment as a band been?

In addition to getting some good press locally and nationally for the record was having the chance to play the International Pop Overthrow in Boston.& We had a great time playing, saw some excellent bands and met some really nice people.

Walk us through your songwriting process…

I never consciously sit down to write.& That’s never worked for me.& Sometimes I’ll just play around on the guitar and get a vague idea or outline for a song.& If it’s something worthwhile, then I usually put it down on tape to remember it and move on.& Occasionally, it will write itself, but more often than not it’s a process.& I may come up with a hook, or a bridge and build from there.

Who is the best musician in your band?
&
Gary Rand, our lead guitar player

What is your favorite local venue?

T.T. The Bear’s Place

What separates you from other local bands?&

I could be wrong, but I don’t know if there are a lot of bands out there playing our style of power pop in town.

What do you have coming up that people should know about?

We have a few shows lined up for the spring, and I should be entering the studio this summer to begin work on a new record.

Convince our readers to see your next show…

Buy the record, you’ll dig it, then come see us live.
