, Staff

Boston is known across the country for its 4th of July celebration at the Hatch Shell on the Esplanade. Hundreds of thousands of people gather for the annual event that brings together the Boston Pops with usually a pretty outstanding special guest artist and amazing fireworks.

Last year’s guest was country favorite Toby Keith and this year you can catch the one-and-only Lionel Richie at the Esplanade before the Pops’ perform their iconic rendition of the 1812 Overture. The celebration will be broadcast on WBZ and picked up nationally on CBS as well. Actor and Massachusetts native Michael Chiklis will serve as host and will also perform at this year’s event for the first time.

Here are a few of our favorite videos to get you excited for Monday’s event.
