Video Spotlight: MTV Video Music Award Winners

, Staff

The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards were held this past weekend in Los Angeles. The event honors the best music videos from the previous year, so we thought we would share the winning videos in five of the major categories.

Sunday night’s show was MTV’s most watched telecast ever and featured performances by Adele, Lady Gaga (dressed in drag as her alter ego Joe Jo Calderone), Chris Brown, a surprise performance by Jay-Z and Kanye West and a touching tribute to the late Amy Winehouse, but it was Beyonce’s pregnancy announcement that stole the show.

In addition to the live performances and outrageous fashions a few awards were also handed out during the telecast. Katy Perry won three awards, including the top prize, Video of the Year for “Firework”, Adele won three technical awards for “Rolling in the Deep”, Britney Spears not only won Best Pop Video but she also received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Other winners included the Foo Fighters, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Kayne West, Justin Bieber, Tyler, the Creator and the Beastie Boys.
