Breakers in the Spotlight: Meghan Klingenberg

, Staff

In this week’s edition of Athletes in the Spotlight, Boston Music Spotlight talks with Boston Breakers midfielder Meghan Klingenberg. The Pennsylvania native and the University of North Carolina product was acquired earlier this season in a trade with magicJack. She and the Breakers, who are currently 4-5-3, will take on the Western New York Flash this weekend.

Boston Music Spotlight (BMS): What do you like to listen to before a game?

Meghan Klingenberg (MK): A couple hours before games I like listening to relaxing music and that usually means country. I don’t want to get too excited too early. But as game time gets closer and we’re in the locker room, I pump up the jams and get ready to kick some butt.

BMS: Do you have any musical talents (or do you prefer Rock Band/Guitar Hero)? And if your were in a band, what would your band name be?

MK: Zero musical talent, but I pretend to play the drums pretty well.

BMS: Which of your teammates has the best taste in music? What about the worst?

MK: Keelin [Winters] and I have similar tastes in music, so I’ll go with her. And the worst, I would have said Elli Reed before she finally realized there is more to music than rap.

BMS: What was the first concert you attended?

MK: *NSYNC

BMS: Any concerts you have enjoyed recently or are excited to be attending soon?

MK: Well, I was supposed to go see Taylor Swift in West Palm Beach but this little thing called a trade got in the way. So, the last one I’ve been to is Jason Mraz with [former magicJack teammate] Ella Masar. He is incredible live.

Klingenberg and the Boston Breakers will host the Western New York Flash at Harvard Stadium on Sunday at 6 p.m. Tickets for the match start at $15 and can be purchased at www.breakerstickets.com. The game will also be televised live on Fox Soccer Channel.
