Breakers in the Spotlight: Claire Zimmeck

, Staff

In this week’s edition of Athletes in the Spotlight, Boston Music Spotlight talks with Boston Breakers forward Claire Zimmeck. The Virginia native and William and Mary product is in her second year with the Breakers, who are currently 4-9-4 and will take on Sky Blue FC this weekend.

Boston Music Spotlight (BMS): What do you listen to before a game?

Claire Zimmeck (CZ): I listen to dance and hip-hop music on my iPod.

BMS: Do you have any musical talents

CZ: I play piano. I had lessons from 7th grade until 12th grade. I am not amazing, but still enjoy playing. I also own and enjoy Guitar Hero. I unfortunately have not been able to get better than medium, which might have to do with the fact that I learned to play left-handed by accident instead of right-handed.

BMS: Which of my teammates has the best taste in music?

CZ: Alex Scott always puts on good music in the locker room. I’m not sure who has the worst taste in music.

BMS: What was the first concert you attended?

CZ: Blink-182 when I was in 9th grade.

BMS: Any concerts that you have enjoyed recently?

CZ: I haven’t gone to a concert in a few years, but some of my favorite concerts I have been to were Weezer and Green Day.

Zimmeck and the Boston Breakers will host Sky Blue FC at Harvard Stadium on Sunday at 4 p.m. The winner of the regular season finale will move on to the WPS Playoffs. Tickets for the match start at $15 and can be purchased at
