Brooks & Dunn to call it quits

After enjoying one of the most successful careers in the history of music, country superstars Brooks & Dunn are calling it quits. Before they depart their separate ways, the duo will release another greatest hits compilation and hit the road for a final tour in 2010.

Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn made the announcement on their website on Monday. “After 20 years of making music and riding this trail together, we have agreed as a duo that it’s time to call it a day,” they said in a message to their fans. “This ride has been everything and more than we could ever have dreamed…. We owe it all to you, the fans. If you hear rumors, don’t believe them, it’s just time.”

Brooks & Dunn will release a a final greatest hits compilation, #1’s and then some, on September 8. They will then bid farewell to the fans with a final tour, “The Last Rodeo Tour” in 2010.

Since debuting in 1991, Brooks & Dunn have released ten studio albums. two greatest hits sets, and a Christmas album. The duo have won a plethora of awards including 26 from the Academy of Country Music, 19 from the Country Music Association (including an unprecedented 14 CMA Vocal Duo of the Year Awards), 3 from the American Music Awards, as well as a pair of Grammy Awards. They are the most successful duo from any genre, having sold more albums than all others in the Nielsen/SoundScan era.
