Boys Like Girls make big plans for Foxboro
Hometown favorites Boys Like Girls are gearing up for the release of their highly anticipated sophomore album, Love Drunk. The band plans to celebrate the new album’s September 8 release with a free show at Patriot Place in Foxboro on Sunday, September 13 at 2 p.m. Rising local rockers Lansdowne will open.
The free show is part of the ongoing Rock The Plaza series which brings some of New England’s best local bands from all genres to perform on an outdoor stage at the Patriot Place plaza area outside of Gillette Stadium. Following the show, Boys Like Girls frontman Martin Johnson will perform the national anthem at the Patriots’ season-opening Monday Night Football game with the Buffalo Bills at Gillette Stadium on September 14.
In addition to the free show at Patriots Place, Boys Like Girls will also hit Foxboro’s Showcase Live! for a two-night stand later this fall as part of their “OP Presents” tour. The band will host a post-Thanksgiving celebration of sorts on Friday, November 27 and Saturday, November 28. Cobra Starship, The Maine, A Rocket To The Moon and Versa Emerge will also perform. Tickets for both shows are now on sale through Ticketmaster for $35.
Love Drunk drops in stores on September 8 but fans can get a taste of the new material on the band’s MySpace page, where they are currently streaming two new songs: lead single “Love Drunk” and “Heart Heart Heartbreak”. The band is also offering a variety of pre-order options for Love Drunk on their website, ranging from a simple download version to a deluxe bundle set complete with a Boys Like Girls messenger bag, poster, and other goodies.
