Anvil to play the House of Blues

After opening for AC/DC at Gillette Stadium this past summer, Anvil will return to Boston for a headlining show of their own. The Canadian metal rockers, who rose to a new found level of fame after the success of their documentary Anvil! The Story of Anvil, will play the House of Blues on Saturday, January 16. Tickets, which range in price from $20 to $30, go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. through Live Nation.

The upcoming winter tour will be Anvil’s first major tour in more than a decade. The group, which is comprised of singer/guitarist Steve “Lips” Kudlow, drummer Robb Reiner and bassist Glenn Five, will be touring in support of their recently re-released This is Thirteen album. Anvil! The Story of Anvil was release on DVD yesterday. Prior to the band taking stage at the House of Blues, the audience members will be treated to a screening of the film. The band is also offering a limited number of 50 “VIP Anvil Experience” packages will be made available for each show, which includes a ticket to the concert, a copy of the This is Thirteen CD, a copy of the Anvil! The Story of Anvil DVD, a fanny pack (a constant fashion companion of Reiner’s as seen in the film), and a meet ‘n’ greet with the band.
