Actor Joaquin Phoenix starts rap career

, Staff

Actor Joaquin Phoenix, star of Gladiator and Hotel Rwanda, has made a career transition to music. However, unlike his move to country music for the Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line with Reese Witherspoon, the Puerto Rico native is now trying to jump start a new career as a rapper.

According to a report in the Hollywood Reporter, Phoenix is working on a debut rap album to be produced by Sean Combs. Additionally, fellow actor and Boston native Casey Affleck will film the whole experience for a documentary.

This past weekend, Phoenix made his his first public performance at a Las Vegas club. As you can tell from the first video below, he’s got a long way to go. As if it could not get any worse, he then fell off the stage (see the second video below).

There has be no official word on whether or not Phoenix is serious about the new endeavor.

Here at BMS, we’re thinking (and hoping) it’s all for a new rockumentary/mockumentary film.
